Hike is the app the entire team at 4CAST is using every since the launch, and now, the app is all set to get a major update with version 2. The team behind Hike teased the features that they’re set to roll out with the next major verison, which includes a BBM like feature, Hike PIN, in-app notifications and also user profiles.
Hike is one such app that surely can posses a threat to WhatsApp and the app is getting better and better with every update. The developers behind Hike App are trying to make the service a small social network among the users, and I think it would work for them this way. I already reviewed the app a while ago, and there were not many reasons to avoid this app. Right from the UI to the workflow, everything works seamlessly, and I’ve personally been pulling some of my friends from WhatsApp onto Hike.
Now, while I was wondering if Hike would become just like how WhatsApp is, the developers posted a quick post on their blog, teasing some of the features that I never thought would come on-board the app. Here are some of the features that Hike app teased for version 2, and it is expected to hit the App Store late February:
Is this how Hike would call it?
Hike PIN, is expected to be on the lines of how BlackBerry Messenger works, where a user gets his own unique PIN number to be shared with his friends, and anyone across the globe would be able to add him via the PIN number. Here’s a very beautiful screenshot from the company blog:
On the other hand, I might have got this concept entirely wrong too. But this is turning out to be exciting with Hike turning into a mobile social network.
The next version is set to have a beautiful in-app notifications just like how WhatsApp works, when a user gets a message from his friends. The new notification pops up with a neat Red indicator right next to the Hike’s logo inside the app. Here’s a screenshot teaser from Hike team:
The screenshot below is a clear indicator of the user profiles that would come bundled with Hike app in the next version. As I noted earlier, the Hike app is turning out to be a social network of its own, rather than just an Instant Messaging app for the mobile devices:
As usual, we’ll keep you posted about the Hike as and when we receive some information. Until then, you can try out the app.
Update: On the other hand, we also learnt that Hike has got a web app in their roadmap. But there’s not ETA about the release.
